NIB BLUES SIGN HOLLYRAE METE-RENATA
The nib Blues have signed dynamic midfielder Hollyrae Mete-Renata for the 2026 Super Rugby Aupiki season.
Originally from Whanganui, Mete-Renata arrives at the Blues following a strong stint with Matatū, after previously making her mark with Hurricanes Poua.
Mete-Renata began her Farah Palmer Cup journey with Manawatū in 2021, where she quickly developed into a consistent contributor.
Across three seasons, she made 16 appearances and crossed the try line six times, showcasing her ability to impact games on both sides of the ball.
Her breakout year came in 2024, when she claimed the Fiao’o Fa’amausili Medal as Farah Palmer Cup Player of the Year.
Mete-Renata topped the competition for metres gained, defenders beaten and offloads, underlining her explosive ball-carrying ability and work rate.
nib Blues Head Coach Willie Walker said Mete-Renata’s signing was a significant boost for the squad.
“Hollyrae brings a real point of difference to our group,” Walker said.
“She’s powerful, fast, and plays with confidence, but what really stands out is her work rate and competitiveness. We’re excited about what she’ll add to our environment.”
Mete-Renata, who has also emerged as a rising prospect within the Black Ferns pathway, said joining the Blues was an exciting next step in her rugby journey.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve had so far and I’m really excited to be joining the Blues,” she said.
“This is a team with strong values and a winning culture, and I’m looking forward to learning, growing and contributing wherever I can.”
