The North Harbour loose forward was a graduate from St Peter’s College, playing New Zealand Schools before missing out on the New Zealand Under 20s with injury.

Saufoa made his NPC debut for Auckland in 2019, before moving to Tasman for the 2020 season. Saufoa relocated again in 2021 to North Harbour.

In 2022, Cameron’s consistent form at NPC level earned him a call-up to the Maori All Blacks side, making his debut against Ireland in Hamilton.

A tall and strong loose forward, Suafoa is in good company with some of the best loosies in New Zealand alongside him at the Blues. He was arguably the Blues Breakout Player of the Year in 2023 where he played a vast majority of his rugby out of position at lock. He impressed from his first start in the middle, with barnstorming runs and bruising defensive efforts. Suafoa was rewarded for a stellar season with a call-up to the All Blacks XV team and named as Captain of the North Harbour Bunnings NPC side under Coach Dan Halangahu. The 2024 season presents an opportunity for Suafoa to further develop his game at the top level.
