BLUES U-18 SQUAD

Next Gen: Blues U-18 Squad selected

The Blues have selected 51 boys to attend their Under-18 Development camp early next month.

The players represent a cross-section of the entire Blues region with boys selected from Kaitaia College in Northland all the way to Botany Downs College in Auckland’s eastern suburbs.

A total of 19 schools and clubs from across the Blues region are represented in the Blues U-18 Development Squad.

Blues Talent ID and Development Manager, Shane King, said the camps were a great opportunity to expose young players to the Blues environment.

“We’ll get the squad and their whānau in this Sunday for an introduction day, a tour of Blues HQ and to give insight as to what we stand for as a club and where we’re heading,” said King.

Blues U-18 training camp will then be held at Mount Albert Grammar School from Wednesday 4 October through to Saturday 7 October.

“It’s an exciting time for the boys and a great opportunity to train with their peers in a skilled and testing environment. These groups are always full of enthusiasm and a desire to learn and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in with them next week.”

Camp will culminate with two games against the Chiefs Under-18 Squad at St Pauls Collegiate in Hamilton on Saturday 7 October. The games will be played at 12pm and 1.30pm with rotating teams being used.
