SEGNER DOMINATES 2026 BLUES AWARDS

Anton Segner has capped off a standout Super Rugby Pacific campaign by claiming four honours at the 2026 Blues Awards.

The dynamic loose forward was recognised by teammates, supporters, and management alike following a season defined by consistency and leadership on and off the field.

The 24-year-old has been a driving force for the Blues throughout the season, leading the side with his relentless work rate, physicality, and impact on both sides of the ball.

Segner headlined the awards by securing the Better Blues Company Player of the Year and nib Players’ Player of the Year awards.

He also took home the MG Blues Forward of the Year and Fans’ Player of the Year awards.

Midfielder Xavi Taele was recognised with the CMC Markets Blues Back of the Year award after a breakout season that saw him emerge as an exciting attacking threat.

A product of the Blues development system, Taele impressed with his versatility, explosive ball carrying, and composure under pressure throughout the campaign.

Promising young forward Torian Barnes claimed the HelloFresh Blues Rookie of the Year award following an impressive debut Super Rugby season.

Barnes brought strong physicality and energy to the squad in his first year at the professional level, quickly establishing himself as an exciting prospect for the future.

Emerging hooker Eli Oudenryn received the Lockton Team Toa Player of the Year award after a standout season within the wider environment.

The New Zealand Under 20 representative and 2025 Super Rugby Under 20 Player of the Tournament was recognised for his growth, work ethic, and commitment behind the scenes.

A key figure in the front office of the club, Kim Malaki, was named the Barfoot & Thompson Mealamu Club Person of the Year for her outstanding contribution to the Blues.
