2025 LEGO FILL THE BUS ANOTHER HUGE SUCCESS
The Blues celebrated an extraordinary turnout at the 2025 LEGO Fill The Blues Bus Event Day held at Blues HQ, where the community donated more than 56,000 non-perishable food items, with the final count still rising.
This year’s total has surpassed the club’s target of 50,000 items and marks our biggest and most successful LEGO Fill The Blues Bus campaign to date.
The 2025 campaign saw 15 schools involved, 16 activities delivered throughout the day, 45 Blues players and five nib Blues players taking part, supported by 12 Blues Charitable Trust volunteers.
Originally launched as a toy drive, Fill The Blues Bus has grown into one of the region’s largest pre-Christmas food collection events. Fans were invited to an open pre-season training session and took part in activities, including touch rugby and PlayStation challenges against Blues players.
“We are really just trying to spark some goodness for Christmas and help communities in need,” Blues Community and Fan Engagement manager Harry Sanders said .
The event showed the strength and spirit of the Blues community, while everyone who donated on the day was thanked with a LEGO set to take home.
Blues prop Marcel Renata was equally impressed by the generosity shown throughout the event.
Renata said “it was awesome to be part of giving back to the Blues community” and added that Blues HQ was buzzing with energy, with kids enjoying the range of activities on offer.
All donated food will be distributed through four community organisations: Love Soup, The Village Community Trust, Whakaora Kai & South. Each charity expressed gratitude not only for the food but also for the bonus LEGO they received to support families during the Christmas period.
The Blues also acknowledge the partners who helped make the 2025 campaign a success, including LEGO NZ as the naming rights partner, Barfoot & Thompson for their collection drive through 35 of their offices and their contribution to the event day by activating with free ice creams, Ritchies for supplying the Blues bus, South Seas Healthcare for hosting activities, Hello Fresh for donating pallets of food and AVS for significant monetary support.
We look forward to seeing the great off field momentum flow into the 2026 season.
