Beauden Barrett joined the Blues in 2020, making his debut against his former team, the Hurricanes, in a memorable clash at Eden Park.
One of world rugby’s most gifted playmakers, Barrett continues to showcase his versatility and influence. Equally comfortable directing play or injecting himself as a counter-attacking threat, his composure and creativity make him a vital figure in the Blues backline.
A respected leader within the squad, Barrett plays an important mentoring role for younger players, sharing his wealth of experience and knowledge built over a stellar career at the top level.
His rugby résumé includes a Rugby World Cup title in 2015 and back-to-back World Rugby Player of the Year awards in 2016 and 2017, achievements that underline his standing among the game’s all-time greats.
A proud Taranaki product, Barrett began his professional journey with his home province in 2010 before debuting for the Hurricanes in 2011. After more than 120 Super Rugby appearances and a title in Wellington, he and his family made the move north to Auckland.
Barrett has also broadened his rugby experience with stints in Japan, further refining his game before returning to the Blues as one of the most complete and influential backs in world rugby.
Contracted with the Blues through to 2027, Barrett remains a cornerstone of the club’s ambitions and a player capable of turning any match on its head.
