Blues Rugby and principal partner nib are proud to bring back the Battle at the Blues – Whānau Touch Tournament for 2026.

A fun-filled day for the whole whānau, with delicious kai, sideline activities and some awesome prizes up for grabs. Plus, keep an eye out for special appearances from your favourite Blues players throughout the day!

Make a day of it — pack your chairs and blankets, bring the whānau along and settle in for a great day out at Blues HQ.

This social touch tournament will see eight teams go head-to-head, all competing to be crowned champions.

Off the field, there’ll be plenty to enjoy including a Blues passing cage, free raffles, and a physio station available on the day.

There will also be free on-site dental checks for your children, thanks to the nib Check-Up Clinic. Children's dental checks will be prioritised however, if time allows, adults will be able to schedule in on the day. This is an alcohol-free event.

Tournament Format

• Eight teams of nine players (6 on field, 3 subs)

• Two pools of four teams

• Round-robin format (each team plays three pool games)

• Followed by finals

• Games consist of 8-minute halves

• 2-minute half-time

• 5-minute break between matches
