Soane is an exciting hooker who was the 2020 Blues Development Player of the Year.

Soane is a product of Mount Albert Grammar in Auckland and was selected for the New Zealand Secondary Schools who toured Australia. The Ponsonby club player has been part of the Blues Development system for Under-18s and Under-20s and was selected for the New Zealand Under-20s. However their much-anticipated Under-20 Rugby World Cup was scuttled by the Covid-19.

Soane produced some superb performances for the Blues team in the Development programme against the Chiefs and Hurricanes and trained with the team throughout the season.

He earned selection to Auckland for the Mitre-10 Cup with three appearances but his season was cut short by injury.

Soane is an energetic and strong open-field runner, excellent tackler and accurate line-out thrower.

Vikena made his debut off the bench against the Crusaders in Christchurch during Round Nine of the Super Rugby Aotearoa 2021 season. Truly a baptism of fire!

Soane was again selected for the New Zealand Under-20s in 2021 and made six appearances for the Blues in his rookie season.

After a strong and consistent season for the Auckland Bunnings NPC side in 2022, Vikena was rewarded with a special start for the Blues in 2023 in his country of birth - Fiji - against the Fijian Drua. The team were victorious that day in Lautoka and won the hearts of many Fijian fans with their generosity in gifting kit to those in the stands. Vikena is back at the Blues for 2024 and will be pushing both Kurt Eklund and Ricky Riccitelli for a spot in the 23 at hooker.
